Interface Cable Offerings

We have several styles of cables, one of which is right for you! Just remember, ALL of the AKM cables are for GM OBDI computers. They do NOT work on any true OBDII system, even though some use an OBDII *style* connector. If you've retrofit an OBDI system in to a OBDII car - we're good... if you're working on another style of retrofit (truck, street rod, etc) then we need to make sure that our wires line up. See the "Technical Info" to the left side of the screen.

Please don't get overwhelmed with all the choices - if you have any questions, email me!

Don't forget, I do a lot of "custom" work. Need an OBDI or OBDII connector on your LT1 Scanmaster? No problem. Need your 1994 or 1995 HPP unlocked from its VIN so you can sell it or get it working? No problem. Email Andrew for a price quote on any of these items or services. Got an idea of something electronics oriented you need done? Just ask!

There is one source of major confusion, hopefully these descriptions will help clarify:

"Older Style" OBDI Connector - 12 Pin, Rectangular Shaped, used on the following vehicles:
Up to 1994 F-body, Up to 1993 Y-body, Up to 1995 B-body, all SyTys, most other pre-1996 GM Vehicles

"Newer Style" OBDII Connector - 16 Pin, "D"-Shaped, used on the following vehicles:
1995+ F-bodies, 1994+ Y-bodies, and all 1996+ GM Vehicles

Be sure you check your connector if unsure!

We carry the following, and all prices include shipping in the US and First Class International postage around the world!:

RS232 cables are based on the MAX232ECPE (Electro-static-discharge resistant) interface chip, and is fully RS232 compliant. USB is based on the FTDI FT232R interface chip.

Recommended for use with LT1_Edit Software, TTS Datamaster, and other high performance communications software (go to my order form)
$90.00
2. Cable with molded OBDII-style connector, approx. 13 ft. in length (RS232) or 9 ft in length (USB)
Recommended for use with LT1_Edit Software, TTS Datamaster, and other high performance communications software (go to my order form)
$90.00
Y. Cable with both molded connectors (OBDI and OBDII-style) - I call it an OBD-Y , approx. 13 ft. in length (RS232) or 9 ft in length (USB)
Recommended for shops that service multiple cars (go to my order form)
$120.00
3. Cable with crimp-style pins and plastic OBDII connector, approx. 15 ft. in length, RS232 (The pins are soldered to the wires, but it's not as pull resistant as the molded cable) (go to my order form) $65.00
4. Cable with DB15 Male connector for use with a Hypertech cable or plug adapter, approx. 15 ft. in length, RS232 (go to my order form) $60.00
5. Converter with RS232 cable, no connector or wire on the automobile side (it does include a DB25 connector and hood, but you must connect to the car somehow - DB25 Pin 1/White wire is GND, DB25 Pin 5/Green Wire is data, Power connects at 22/GND/Black and 25/+12V/Red) (go to my order form) $50.00
6. Kit of Parts (same as #5 but unassembled), includes instructions and email support, RS232 (go to my order form) $35.00
7. OBDII-style Kit of parts (Same as #3 but unassembled), RS232 (go to my order form) $45.00
8. OBDI or OBDII / RS232 (no USB) connector kit of parts (same as #1 but unassembled)  (go to my order form) $70.00
9. Printed circuit board (for RS232) - includes instructions and email support - but PLEASE make sure you have some soldering skills!!! (go to my order form) $10.00
10. Don't see what you want? Email me and we'll work it out! I do custom stuff all the time! Longer? Shorter? Want an experimental setup (160 baud stuff like on Peter G's homepage)? Of course, most of the time I don't charge extra for this stuff, but only do it when requested. :) email

Note: I'm not selling USB kits. I have no documentation on them, and I don't feel like documenting them at this point. I use very small surface mount devices that require above average soldering skill to build.
